Bryan Woo struck out a career-high 13 batters, and J.P. Crawford’s go-ahead homer in the fourth inning helped the Seattle Mariners defeat the Los Angeles Angels 5-3 on Saturday night, extending their winning streak to eight and keeping them tied with Houston atop the AL West.

Woo (14-7) worked six innings, giving up two runs on three hits with one walk. After surrendering a Jo Adell solo homer and a Bryce Teodosio RBI single in the second inning, he retired the next 13 hitters he faced. Woo has pitched at least five innings in 31 straight outings, the longest active streak in the American League.

The Mariners jumped on Angels rookie Mitch Farris (1-1) early. Jorge Polanco lined a two-run double in the first, and Crawford added his 10th home run of the season in the fourth to put Seattle ahead for good. Josh Naylor provided insurance in the fifth with a two-run single after grinding out an 11-pitch at-bat against reliever Chase Silseth.

Farris lasted only four innings, allowing five runs on five hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Matt Brash closed it out for Seattle, earning his fourth save despite giving up a ninth-inning homer to Taylor Ward.

The Mariners’ winning streak matches their longest of the season, set from August 3-12, and they remain tied with Boston for the second AL wild card spot.

Key Moment:

Naylor’s 11-pitch battle in the fifth ended with a two-run single, stretching Seattle’s lead to 5-2 and deflating the Angels’ hopes of a comeback.

Key Stat:

Polanco’s first-inning double marked his eighth straight game with an extra-base hit, Seattle’s longest streak this year.
