The Los Angeles Angels erased a late deficit Tuesday night and defeated the Detroit Tigers 10-6 behind a career performance from Vaughn Grissom. The infielder drove in six runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning, as the Angels extended their winning streak to four games.

Los Angeles trailed 6-4 entering the eighth and appeared in danger of seeing its recent surge come to an end. Instead, the Angels mounted a dramatic rally against Detroit’s bullpen and turned a one-run deficit into a comfortable lead within minutes.

Grissom delivered the decisive blow with a towering grand slam to right-center field, capping a five-run inning and completing a comeback that continued Los Angeles’ strong run of form. The Angels improved their position with another productive offensive night, while Detroit’s recent struggles deepened.

Angels Rally In The Eighth

Detroit carried a 6-4 advantage into the eighth inning and handed the ball to reliever Will Vest, who had already worked through a demanding outing.

The Tigers appeared on the verge of escaping trouble after recording the first two outs of the inning. Logan O’Hoppe changed the momentum with a run-scoring double that cut the deficit to one run. Zach Neto followed with a single, and Mike Trout worked a walk to load the bases.

That set the stage for Grissom.

Vest quickly fell behind in the count. Grissom stayed patient and waited for a pitch he could drive. He connected on a 2-0 offering and launched it into the right-center-field seats for a grand slam.

The blast transformed a 6-5 deficit into a 9-6 Angels lead and silenced the Detroit crowd. It was the biggest swing of the game and the defining moment of the evening.

Los Angeles added another insurance run later to complete the scoring and secure its fourth consecutive victory.

Grissom Delivers Career Night

Grissom finished with six RBI and played a central role in nearly every important offensive sequence for the Angels.

His impact started well before the grand slam.

In the third inning, Grissom lined a two-run single that gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead. Although he was later thrown out on the bases after losing track of the number of outs, his early contribution helped the Angels establish momentum.

As the game progressed, Grissom continued to put pressure on Detroit’s pitching staff. When the Angels needed a clutch hit in the eighth, he delivered the biggest one of the night.

The six-RBI performance marked one of the most productive games of his major league career and highlighted his growing importance in the middle of the Angels lineup.

Neto Sparks The Offense

While Grissom earned the headlines, Zach Neto also played a major role in the victory.

The shortstop reached base four times, collecting three hits and a walk while scoring two runs.

Neto consistently put pressure on Detroit pitchers and created opportunities for the hitters behind him. His single in the eighth helped load the bases before Grissom’s grand slam changed the game.

The Angels received contributions throughout the lineup as well.

Jo Adell and Jose Siri each homered. Donovan Walton added a double and scored during a productive fourth inning. Mike Trout reached base and scored in the decisive rally.

Los Angeles once again demonstrated the offensive depth that has fueled its recent winning streak.

Tigers Show Offensive Improvement

Despite the loss, Detroit’s offense displayed signs of progress after several difficult weeks.

The Tigers entered the game mired in an extended slump but generated enough offense to take a late lead.

Wenceel Pérez hit a home run and reached base multiple times. Kevin McGonigle delivered a two-run triple and reached base four times. Jahmai Jones contributed an RBI single during a three-run fifth inning that pushed Detroit ahead 5-4.

The Tigers also snapped a franchise-record stretch of 11 consecutive games with seven or fewer hits. Their six runs marked their highest output in nearly two weeks.

For much of the evening, Detroit appeared positioned to end its recent struggles.

Farris Limits The Damage

One of the game’s key moments came in the fifth inning.

After McGonigle’s two-run triple and Jones’ RBI single gave Detroit the lead, the Tigers still had the bases loaded with nobody out. The inning threatened to become much bigger.

Angels reliever Mitch Farris prevented that from happening.

Farris entered and immediately stabilized the situation. He recorded two strikeouts and induced a fly ball to end the threat, limiting Detroit to one additional run.

That sequence kept the Angels within striking distance and set the stage for their comeback later in the game.

Without Farris escaping the jam, the eighth-inning rally might not have been enough.

Winning Streak Continues

The victory continued a strong stretch for Los Angeles after a difficult start to the season.

The Angels have found greater consistency on both sides of the ball during their four-game winning streak. Their lineup has produced timely hits, while the pitching staff has done enough to keep games within reach.

For Detroit, the defeat added to a difficult period. The Tigers have now lost 12 of their last 14 games despite showing offensive improvement Tuesday night.

The clubs continue their three-game series on Wednesday. Detroit is scheduled to send Casey Mize to the mound, while the Angels will counter with José Soriano, one of the American League’s most effective starters this season.
