As a result of the MLB lockout leading to a delayed start to the 2022 season, Spring Training now begins on March 18 in Arizona. To kick the exhibition schedule off, the Los Angeles Angels face the Oakland Athletics on the 18th at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa.
Spring Training was initially slated to begin in the final days of February. However, lockout negotiations ensured that wouldn’t happen, with the start of the regular season also being delayed by seven days.
The Angels will play just 15 Spring Training games and three exhibition games against the L.A. Dodgers before beginning the 2022 regular season. Their home base for the Spring is Tempe Diablo Stadium, where they will play six of their 15 Arizona games designated as the home team.
The Cactus League schedule concludes on April 2 for the Angels, when they face the Chicago Cubs at Sloan Park in Mesa before heading home for the Dodgers series.
The Angels and Dodgers will continue their tradition of playing a three-game Freeway Series before the start of the regular season. This season, Game 1 will take place on April 3 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, with Games 2 and 3 happening up the I-5 at Dodger Stadium in L.A.
Start times have not yet been announced, but fans should be able to purchase tickets to see the Angels in Arizona beginning next week.
