Mike Trout crushed his 400th career home run, Kyle Hendricks delivered seven strong innings, and the Los Angeles Angels ended their eight-game skid with a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.

Trout’s milestone blast came in the eighth inning, a 485-foot solo shot to left-center off Rockies reliever Jaden Hill, pushing the Angels’ lead to three. The homer was just his second since Aug. 6 and snapped a 36-game stretch with only one long ball.

Taylor Ward opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second, his 34th of the season, tying him for 10th in MLB. Nolan Schanuel added another solo shot in the sixth to make it 2-0.

Hendricks (8-10), making his 300th career start, bounced back from his Sept. 14 rough outing in Seattle by allowing just three hits, striking out five and walking none across seven shutout frames. He’s now held opponents to three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his last 18 starts.

Luis García locked down the ninth for his second save, inducing a game-ending double play with the bases loaded.

Germán Márquez (3-15) turned in one of his best starts of the year for Colorado, striking out five and giving up just four hits and two earned runs over a season-high seven innings. Hunter Goodman had two of the Rockies’ five hits.
