Mike Trout delivered a standout performance Saturday night, hitting his 17th home run of the season and driving in four to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 10-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Angel Stadium. The win brought the Angels within one game of .500 at 47-48, while the Diamondbacks slipped to 46-50 after their third consecutive loss.

Trout, nearing major career milestones, now sits at 395 career home runs and 994 runs batted in. His impact on the game was felt early and late, as he followed Nolan Schanuel’s leadoff single in the fifth inning with a two-run blast off Arizona starter Zac Gallen, stretching the Angels’ lead to 6-2. In the eighth inning, Trout capped a four-run rally with a two-run single that effectively put the game out of reach.

Arizona’s Eugenio Suárez was the primary offensive contributor for the visitors, belting two home runs for the second time this season. Suárez launched a 434-foot shot to center in the second inning and added a solo homer in the fourth. The long balls brought his season total to 31, surpassing his 2024 output and marking the sixth time he has reached the 30-homer threshold in his career.

Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi improved to 4-6 on the year, working 5 2/3 innings while allowing three runs on six hits. He was briefly shaken up in the sixth inning after being hit on the shoulder by a liner from Josh Naylor, but remained in the game to face two more batters before exiting following a single by Randal Grichuk.

Gallen (7-10) took the loss for Arizona, surrendering six runs on eight hits over five innings. Despite occasional flashes of control, he could not contain a determined Angels lineup that erupted for multiple rallies, including a decisive four-run eighth inning.

The Angels’ offensive surge in the fourth inning gave them the initial lead. Taylor Ward, Jo Adell, and Travis d’Arnaud hit consecutive doubles to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 advantage. After Arizona narrowed the margin to 6-5 in the top of the eighth, the Angels responded in the bottom half with three consecutive RBI singles from Zach Neto, Schanuel, and Trout, reestablishing control at 10-5.

Arizona reliever Andrew Saalfrank returned to the majors with two scoreless innings, marking his first appearance after a one-year suspension for betting violations. Saalfrank was reinstated on June 5 and recalled from Triple-A Reno earlier in the week.

The Diamondbacks will look to avoid a series sweep in Sunday’s finale. Right-hander Merrill Kelly (7-5, 3.41 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound against Angels right-hander José Soriano (6-6, 4.00 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:07 p.m. PT as both teams head into the All-Star break looking to gain momentum for the second half of the season.
