Mike Trout collected three hits and drove in two runs as the Los Angeles Angels rallied for a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
George Klassen delivered six steady innings to earn his first major league wins in his fourth career start. Jose Siri provided the key hit during a three-run sixth inning that turned a one-run deficit into a Los Angeles lead.
The Angels also received a strong finish from their bullpen. Ben Joyce worked a perfect ninth to record his first save in nearly two years.
Klassen Secures First Major League Win
Klassen entered the night still searching for his first win in the majors. He left after six innings with the Angels in front.
The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked only one while improving to 1-1.
Texas put Klassen under pressure in the second inning. Evan Carter and Elias Diaz opened the threat with singles before Nicky Lopez was hit by a pitch.
With the bases loaded, Joc Pederson drew a walk to force home the game’s first run.
Klassen limited the damage to one run, but Corey Seager added another in the third. Seager drove a solo homer to right field to extend the Rangers’ advantage to 2-0.
The Angels responded in the bottom half.
Denzer Guzman singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Trout then delivered a run-scoring single to cut the deficit in half.
Klassen kept Texas scoreless from there. His ability to settle into the game gave the Angels time to mount their comeback.
Siri Sparks Sixth-Inning Rally
Rangers starter Cal Quantrill kept Los Angeles under control through five innings. He allowed one run on four hits while striking out six and walking three.
Texas turned to Robby Ahlstrom for the sixth with a 2-1 lead.
Moisés Ballesteros opened the inning with a single. Vaughn Grissom followed with a fielder ‘s-choice grounder that erased Ballesteros but kept a runner on base.
The Angels then called on Siri to pinch-hit for Josh Lowe.
Siri responded with an RBI double into left-center, scoring Grissom and tying the game at 2-2. He immediately put more pressure on Texas by stealing third without a throw.
Oswald Peraza was hit by a pitch before Guzman came to the plate.
Guzman dropped a safety squeeze into play. Siri raced home and beat reliever Peyton Gray’s flip to the plate with a headfirst slide, putting Los Angeles ahead 3-2.
Trout added another run later in the inning. His two-out RBI single stretched the lead to 4-2 and completed the Angels’ three-run rally.
Trout Drives Angels Offense
Trout finished with three hits and two RBIs, providing production in two of the Angels’ scoring innings.
His third-inning single brought home Guzman for Los Angeles’ first run. He struck again in the sixth after the Angels had moved ahead.
The performance gave Trout a productive night during a stretch in which run production had been limited. His third-inning RBI was only his seventh across 47 games since June 16.
Los Angeles added another run in the seventh.
Adam Frazier hit an RBI single that deflected off the first-base bag, extending the advantage to 5-2.
That run also ended an extended offensive streak for the Angels. They had scored four runs or fewer in 16 consecutive games before reaching five on Wednesday.
Angels Bullpen Protects Lead
Los Angeles did not give Texas an opening after Klassen departed.
Blake Weiman worked a scoreless seventh and returned for the eighth. He allowed two hits before Ryan Watson entered with two runners aboard and one out.
Watson escaped the jam without allowing either runner to score, preserving the three-run lead.
Joyce handled the ninth.
The hard-throwing right-hander retired all three batters he faced to secure his fifth career save. It was his first save since September 1, 2024.
Joyce had missed most of the previous two seasons because of shoulder injuries, making his return to a late-inning role another notable development for the Angels.
Rangers Lose Ground in AL West
The loss dropped Texas to 60-61 and pushed the Rangers 1 1/2 games behind Houston for first place in the American League West.
Texas had opportunities to create more offense but managed only two runs against Klassen and none against the Angels’ bullpen.
Seager supplied the Rangers’ biggest swing with his third-inning homer. The Angels’ pitching staff prevented Texas from adding to the lead after that point.
Quantrill gave the Rangers five effective innings, but the bullpen could not preserve the advantage. Ahlstrom took the loss after Los Angeles began its decisive sixth-inning rally against him.
For the Angels, the result combined timely hitting with a significant night for Klassen. The rookie kept his team within range early, while Trout and Siri helped turn the game in the middle innings.

Texas is scheduled to start right-hander Jacob deGrom, who enters at 8-7 with a 3.87 ERA. The Angels will counter with right-hander Walbert Ureña.
