Aaron Civale delivered a masterful outing, holding the Angels to just one hit over 6 1/3 innings as the Chicago White Sox blanked Los Angeles 1-0 on Saturday night, officially surpassing their 2024 win total.

With the win, the White Sox improved to 42-69, securing their 10th victory in the 14 games since the All-Star break. Last season, they set a modern MLB record with a 41-121 finish.

Civale (3-6) was in full control, striking out eight and allowing only a single baserunner — a slow infield hit by Zach Neto to open the fourth inning. He has now allowed just one unearned run and seven hits over his last 17 1/3 innings, going 2-0 in his past three starts.

Chicago got all the offense it needed in the second inning when Kyle Teel singled home Luis Robert Jr., who had reached with a leadoff single. That RBI was all the White Sox would muster — and all they needed.

Angels starter Kyle Hendricks (6-8) was also solid, allowing just one run on six hits across six innings, but was saddled with the loss due to the lack of run support. Los Angeles has now dropped three straight.

Brandon Eisert was sharp in relief for the White Sox, retiring all five batters he faced, and Jordan Leasure closed out the ninth for his third save of the season, completing the one-hit shutout.

Brooks Baldwin accounted for two of Chicago’s six hits on the night. The team was without Miguel Vargas, who was a late scratch due to a left oblique strain.

Key Moment:

Following Zach Neto’s infield single and a walk to Nolan Schanuel in the fourth, Civale calmly retired the next three batters to escape trouble and preserve the shutout.

Key Stat:

The White Sox entered the day leading MLB in home runs (27) and runs scored (90) since the All-Star break.

Up Next:

The series concludes Sunday with White Sox right-hander Sean Burke (4-8, 4.17 ERA) facing Angels right-hander Jack Kochanowicz (3-9, 5.75 ERA).
