Jul 14, 2024; Ft. Worth, TX, USA; Christian Moore is congratulated by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred after being selected by the Los Angeles Angels as the eight player taken during the first round of the MLB Draft at Cowtown Coliseum.

MLB Pipeline regularly updates their prospect rankings to ensure that fans are aware of how their teams are developing talent and how things like the MLB Draft affects things. The Los Angeles Angels got a big boost to their farm system by drafting Tennessee infielder Christian Moore with the No. 8 overall pick in last month’s draft.

Moore was a dominant force for the Volunteers in their College World Series run, and has kept that going within the Angels organization. He was promoted from Class-A Inland Empire to Double-A Rocket City after only two games and has a 1.515 OPS with five home runs in eight games with the Trash Pandas.

So it’s not surprise, then, that Moore’s debut on MLB Pipeline is about as high up as could possibly be expected. Moore finds himself as the No. 2 prospect in the Angels organization, behind only pitcher Caden Dana, and is No. 81 overall in MLB.

He is one of just two Angels — Dana — to be named to the top 100 and he does so after only a couple weeks of minor league play. Dana comes in at No. 75, a small upgrade from where he began the 2024 season.

And while the Angels still rank at the bottom of Major League farm systems, there is finally some reason for hope as it seems they have two star-quality players leading the way. Moore and Dana are 21 and 20 years old, respectively, and both are expected to make their debuts with the big-league team by the start of the 2025 campaign.

Some other intriguing players in the top 30 for the Angels are RHP George Klassen (No. 3), the marquee acquisition from the Philadelphia Phillies in the Carlos Estévez trade; OF Matthew Lugo (No. 12), acquired by the Angels in the Luis Garcia deal with the Boston Red Sox; and Jack Kochanowicz (No. 20) who has already made his MLB debut and has one phenomenal start.
