The Los Angeles Angels checked another box off of their offseason to-do list by announcing their full Major League Baseball player development staff alongside several returning coaches within their Minor League ranks.

Since 2001, the Salt Lake Bees have been the Triple-A affiliate, home to multiple interesting candidates to potentially earn a midseason call-up. Among those are Jhonathan Diaz, Chris Devinski, Austin Warren, and possibly the left-handed bat of Jake Lamb.

At the helm is Keith Johnson, a longtime Minor League skipper who spent seven seasons as a manager in the organization from 2008 to 2014. After a promotion in 2015 to MLB, he returned to the Bees for another three-year run that lasted until August 5, 2018.

Now back with the Bees for his third stint, Johnson will play a key role in managing the Angels’ last line before players reach MLB.

The Rocket City Trash Pandas are the Angels’ Double-A affiliate, managed by Andrew Schatzley, who previously managed their High-A ball club from 2020-2021. Trash Pandas hitting coach Sean Kazmar and pitching coach Michael Wuertz are tasked with propelling some of the organization’s top prospects including Sam Bachman, Ky Bush, Ben Joyce, Zach Neto, Jeremiah Jackson, and Kyren Paris.

The Dust Devils at High-A will be led by Jack Howell, back for his second season with the club. Howell spent 11 years in MLB, nine with the Angels. Back for his third year with the team is pitching coach Doug Henry and they’ll be welcoming first-year hitting coach Ryan Sebra and coach Trevor Nyp, both were elevated after spending last season with the Low-A 66ers.
