The Los Angeles Angels and Jared Walsh received some positive news this week, with signs that he’ll be taking his first steps toward returning to live game action.

Walsh has yet to appear for the club during the regular season after stepping away from the team to pursue treatment options for insomnia and headaches, which became debilitating for the 29-year-old. He initially attempted to work through the symptoms, but it was in his best interest to shut it down for the time being.

According to Erica Weston of Bally Sports West, Walsh is feeling much better and the Angels could have him back fairly soon:

The Angels have also been thin behind the plate, going as far as calling up journeyman catcher Chris Okey to supplement their Major League catcher depth. Max Stassi had been rehabbing a hip injury that began his initial stint on the injured list, but an ongoing family emergency has put any update about his status on hold:

Stassi’s ongoing absence and Logan O’Hoppe’s season-ending shoulder surgery put a lot of pressure on Matt Thaiss to take over the bulk of starts, a clear downgrade on the offensive end.

Test reveals no structural damage to Angels starter José Suarez’s shoulder

After exiting his most recent start in the third inning against the Texas Rangers, it was revealed he was dealing with a shoulder strain in his throwing arm.

Suarez has been stuck in the midst of his toughest stretch as a Major League pitcher, allowing a 7.89 ERA through 21.2 innings heading into his fifth start. But through 2.2 innings versus the Rangers, the lefty allowed seven earned runs on six hits, including two homers.

Following further tests, no structural damage was shown in his throwing shoulder.
