Former Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani was named to the 2023 All-MLB Team, earning recognition as a designated hitter and for his time spent as a pitcher.

Ohtani earned selections to the First Team, marking a third consecutive year he made the All-MLB team as both a pitcher and DH. However, this represents the first time Ohtani was named to the All-MLB First Team for both roles in the same season.

He hit .304/.412/.654 with 26 doubles, eight triples, 44 home runs and 20 stolen bases. Ohtani led the American League in on-base percentage, slugging, on-base plus slugging (1.066), homers, total bases (325) and extra-base hits (78). He also led the Majors in slugging and OPS.

As a pitcher, Ohtani finished 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA, 4.00 FIP, 1.06 WHIP and 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings over 23 starts.

Among other accolades Ohtani received in his final season with the Angels was the 2023 Hank Aaron Award for the AL. He also was unanimously voted the AL MVP for a second time.

Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to twice win MVP by way of unanimous vote.
