With pitchers and catchers already reporting for Spring Training, the Los Angeles Angels released a full list of non-roster players who will be attending Major League camp.

Among the 38 NRIs, a handful of top prospects in their system will get an opportunity and a taste of what it’s like to be in a big-league environment. Zach Neto, Edgar Quero and Sam Bachman are all top-10 farmhand talents within the Angels system, and all three will be in Arizona with the team.

The Angels selected Neto with the 13th pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft and were able to secure him for below-slot value at $3.5 million, splitting time between High-A and Double-A with the Rocket City Trash Pandas. In 30 games at Double-A, he posted a .320/.382/.492 slash including four homers, 23 RBI and 22 runs scored.

The versatile infielder isn’t expected to see time in MLB for at least one more season, but if his contact-hitting traits continue, the only thing left is to see an uptick in the power department.

Quero is another fantastic inclusion because of his advancement at such a young age. The 19-year-old switch-hitting catcher demolished the ball in his first full season in Single-A, putting up a .312/.435/.530 line with 17 homers, 75 RBI and 73 walks in 111 games.

The experience will be invaluable for him and fellow catching prospect Logan O’Hoppe in their first Spring Training with the Angels.

Bachman is a former first-round pick of the Angels in the 2021 MLB Draft, and in his second full season with the club, he figures to see time with the Trash Pandas and a possible promotion to Triple-A with the Salt Lake Bees.

In 12 starts in 2022, he carried a 3.92 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP in 43.2 innings.

Among the notable veterans the Angels will have in Major League camp are Jake Lamb, Chris Devenski, Austin Warren, Ryan Aguilar, Aaron Whitefield, Chad Wallach, Kenny Rosenberg, Jhonathan Diaz and Jonathan Holder.

Diaz is a wild card, after joining the Angels in 2021 after five years in the Boston Red Sox organization, he saw time in MLB the past two seasons.

His 2.93 ERA, 4.99 FIP, and 6.49 strikeout per nine are all areas in which he can improve. Diaz was able to limit damage, but that didn’t come without his own issues limiting walks. However, the Angels value him enough to include him as he’ll compete for a possible spot on the pitching staff.
