Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi has been selected for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game as part of the American League roster. This marks Kikuchi’s second selection and first in his first season with the Angels. He was a part of the 2021 All-Star Game as a member of the Seattle Mariners.

He was the Halos’ lone selection for the 2025 Midsummer Classic. As of July 10, Kikuchi has a 3.02 ERA, 1.379 WHIP, 3.86 FIP and 110 strikeouts in 107.1 innings on a league-best 19 starts. He is hopeful to see an inning in this year’s game, after not making it into the 2021 All-Star Game.

The Angels starter was thrilled to be named an All-Star for the second time, and was happy to do it as a part of a club that has so much love for one another, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com:

“All my teammates were really happy for me,” Kikuchi said through interpreter Yusuke Oshima. “Perry came in and delivered a really heartfelt message. It really got to me. Like, I got a little emotional. But I just have this feeling that I want to do something special with this team this year.”

“Just looking back when I first signed here, I saw something in this team and this young group of guys,” Kikuchi said. “And I really believe, within the three years I’m here, that we could do something special. I just want to be a big part of this team. And being selected for the All-Star Game for this year means a lot to me.”

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 15 at 5 p.m. PT from Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves. The full rosters for both the AL and the National League are below.
