The Los Angeles Angels erased multiple deficits and completed another late comeback Wednesday night, defeating the Baltimore Orioles 7-6 in 10 innings at Angel Stadium.

Logan O’Hoppe delivered the winning run with a soft infield hit after Nolan Schanuel advanced to third on a defensive error, giving the Angels their sixth walk-off victory of the season. The win also marked Los Angeles’ 12th comeback victory, highlighting the club’s growing resilience during recent weeks.

The Angels rallied from behind in the eighth inning, fell behind again in the 10th, and still found a way to prevail in a game filled with momentum swings and defensive miscues.

Soler Gives Angels Early Lead

Los Angeles struck first in the opening inning.

Jorge Soler launched a two-run home run to give the Angels an early 2-0 advantage. The blast provided an encouraging start for the home team before Baltimore’s offense gradually took control.

Despite the quick lead, Angels starter José Soriano struggled to settle into the game.

The right-hander allowed six hits and five runs across three innings while striking out four. Baltimore consistently put runners on base and forced the Angels to rely heavily on their bullpen much earlier than planned.

Basallo Powers Orioles Attack

Baltimore’s offense was led by one of its youngest players.

Rookie catcher Samuel Basallo enjoyed a breakthrough performance, collecting the first multihomer game of his major league career. At just 21 years old, Basallo became only the second catcher aged 21 or younger to record a multihomer game in major league history.

His offensive performance helped the Orioles erase the early deficit and build a lead against Soriano.

Basallo’s memorable night, however, ended with a defensive mistake that proved costly in the final inning.

Angels Rally In The Eighth

Trailing late, the Angels mounted another comeback.

Pinch-hitter Vaughn Grissom sparked the rally with an RBI single in the eighth inning, cutting into Baltimore’s lead and giving Los Angeles new life.

Wade Meckler followed with a two-run single that tied the game, bringing the crowd to its feet and forcing extra innings.

The late rally continued a trend for the Angels, who have repeatedly found timely offense during close games despite spending much of the season near the bottom of the American League standings.

Orioles Regain Lead In 10th

Baltimore wasted little time reclaiming the advantage in the extra inning.

Pete Alonso drove in the automatic runner with an RBI single, giving the Orioles a 6-5 lead and putting pressure back on the Angels in the bottom half of the inning.

The Orioles appeared positioned to close out the victory behind reliever Keegan Akin.

Instead, defensive mistakes opened the door for Los Angeles.

Defensive Errors Open Door

The Angels quickly put the tying run in position.

Oswald Peraza scored when Schanuel hit a routine ground ball that should have produced an out. Akin mishandled the throw while covering first base, allowing Schanuel to reach safely and advance all the way to third.

The error not only tied the game but also placed the winning run just 90 feet away.

Moments later, O’Hoppe attempted to check his swing on a 1-2 changeup. The ball trickled softly into play, forcing Orioles catcher Basallo to make a quick decision.

Basallo tried to apply the tag on Schanuel racing home but missed, allowing the winning run to cross the plate and touching off the Angels’ celebration.

The sequence capped another dramatic comeback for Los Angeles and handed Baltimore a difficult extra-inning defeat.

Bullpen Keeps Angels Alive

After Soriano’s early exit, the Angels bullpen played a crucial role in keeping the game within reach.

Relievers combined to limit Baltimore’s offense and gave the lineup enough opportunities to mount its comeback.

Chase Silseth earned the victory after pitching the 10th inning. He allowed one run on two hits before the Angels responded in the bottom half.

Akin took the loss for Baltimore after surrendering the tying and winning runs while recording only two outs. He was also charged with a blown save.
