Bobby Witt Jr. and Adam Frazier each drove in two runs, while Salvador Perez climbed to second on Kansas City’s all-time RBI leaderboard in the Royals’ 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.

The Royals (79-78) were officially eliminated from postseason contention earlier in the evening, ensuring they’ll miss the playoffs for the ninth time in the last 10 years despite last season’s Wild Card berth.

Perez scored in the first inning with an RBI single, 97th of the year and the 1,013th of his career, passing Hal McRae for second place in club history. Only George Brett (1,596) has more.

Maikel Garcia had a standout night, going 3 for 4 with two doubles, scoring three runs, and recording his 11th three-hit game of the season.

Left-hander Cole Ragans (3-3), in his second start back from the injured list, struck out 10 while allowing two runs on three hits across five innings.

For the Angels, rookie Bryce Teodosio connected for his first career home run in the fifth inning, coming in his 45th MLB game. In the ninth, Taylor Ward added his 35th homer — a new personal best. Los Angeles has now dropped 10 of its last 11 games.
