Julio Rodríguez collected three hits and scored twice, while Bryan Woo carried a shutout into the seventh inning as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Los Angeles Angels 8-3 on Tuesday night.

Seattle broke open a scoreless game with a five-run sixth inning before adding three more runs in the seventh to secure its second straight victory over Los Angeles. Woo continued his outstanding stretch at home, and the Mariners’ offense produced 13 hits in a balanced performance.

The Angels mounted a brief comeback in the seventh inning, but Seattle answered immediately and never allowed the game to become close again.

Woo Extends Strong Run

Woo delivered another effective start for Seattle.

The right-hander held the Angels scoreless through the first six innings, allowing only four hits while striking out five. He worked into the seventh before giving way to the bullpen after 6 1/3 innings.

The first two runs scored by Los Angeles in the seventh were charged to Woo, ending his streak of 32 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings at home. The impressive run stretched across five home starts and dated back to May 6 against Atlanta.

Eduard Bazardo finished the seventh inning before Michael Rucker pitched a scoreless eighth. Closer Andrés Muñoz retired the Angels in order in the ninth to finish the victory.

Mariners Explode In Sixth

Seattle’s offense finally broke through against Angels starter José Soriano in the sixth inning.

Rodríguez and Josh Naylor opened the rally with consecutive singles before Randy Arozarena lined another base hit to bring Rodríguez home with the game’s first run.

The hit also ended Soriano’s outing.

After Cal Raleigh drew a walk to load the bases, Cole Young singled to right field to score Naylor. Arozarena crossed the plate on a wild pitch before Weston Wilson capped the rally with a two-run single to right, driving in Raleigh and Young.

The Mariners sent 10 batters to the plate during the inning and turned a scoreless contest into a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Soriano took the loss after allowing the decisive rally. His record dropped to 8-5 on the season.

Angels Show Brief Fight

Los Angeles responded in the seventh inning after Woo exited the game.

The Angels scored three runs, cutting Seattle’s lead to 5-3 and briefly putting pressure on the Mariners’ bullpen.

Zach Neto delivered the key hit of the inning with a single to right field that drove in the final two runs of the rally.

Wade Meckler continued his productive stretch by collecting two of the Angels’ six hits, but Los Angeles could not sustain the comeback.

Seattle Responds Immediately

The Mariners quickly erased any momentum the Angels had created.

Seattle answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to restore control of the game.

Colt Emerson highlighted the inning with a soft single that floated just beyond the reach of Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel. The hit brought home two runs and extended Seattle’s advantage.

The insurance runs allowed the Mariners’ bullpen to finish the final two innings without additional pressure.

Rodríguez and Emerson each finished with three hits to lead the offense. Arozarena and Cole Young both crossed the plate twice as Seattle produced consistent traffic on the bases throughout the evening.

Balanced Attack Leads Mariners

Seattle’s lineup received contributions from top to bottom.

Rodríguez once again set the tone at the top of the order, while Emerson continued his strong performance with three hits and two runs batted in. Wilson delivered the biggest hit of the sixth inning with his two-run single, and Young added an RBI while scoring during the decisive rally.

The Mariners finished with 13 hits and capitalized on nearly every scoring opportunity during the middle innings.
