Thursday afternoon’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees has been postponed due to a forecast of inclement weather in the Bronx. While there were rain delays in Wednesday night’s game, the addition of lightning and thunder in Thursday’s forecast was likely the impetus for a complete postponement.

What was supposed to be the four-game series finale between the Angels and Yankees will now be played in the second half of the season, on August 16 at 4:05 p.m. PT at Yankee Stadium. The Angels will travel to New York to play the individual road game before heading out on a nine-game road trip of their own.

Following the one game against the Yankees on Aug. 16, the Angels play a three-game set on the road against the Detroit Tigers, who they recently defeated 3-1 in a four-game series in Anaheim. Following the Tigers, it will be a unique three-gamer against the Cleveland Indians.

The first two games will take place in Cleveland before both teams head to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to face off in the fourth annual Little League Classic. The teams will play on the same field as the Little League World Series following the conclusion of the games for that day. Tickets are not available to general public for this game.

Finally, their road trip concludes with the Baltimore Orioles. Even though the Angels are traveling to New York for just one game, it won’t be significantly out of the way of their regular schedule.

Fans who purchased tickets to Thursday’s game will be allowed to exchange those for tickets on the 16th or any other game for a similar value ticket. Any fan who was given a complementary ticket for any reason — including the Commissioner’s Initiative for Kids — must use their ticket on the 16th and cannot use it for any other game.

Jared Walsh plays hero

Wednesday night wound up being one of the craziest games of the season after Shohei Ohtani allowed seven first inning runs. The Angels trailed 7-2 after one, then after two rain delays, trailed 8-4 going into the ninth inning.

There, Aroldis Chapman loaded the bases for Jared Walsh, who belted a game-tying grand slam. It was the first grand slam allowed of Chapman’s career and the first home run he’s allowed to a left-handed hitter since 2017.
