The Los Angeles Angels make another front office shakeup after announcing that assistant general manager Alex Tamin won’t return for the 2024 season.
Tamin was hired by current general manager Perry Minasian prior to the 2021 season, after being brought over from the Atlanta Braves organization. His tenure with the Angels lasted just a few seasons, and the club has another vacancy to fill.
The Angels and AGM Alex Tamin have parted ways, sources tell me and @kileymcd. Tamin was basically GM Perry Minasian’s right-hand man.

Making decisions alongside Minasian in the last few seasons has been one of the more difficult tasks, mostly because of an ownership swing that has gone from a sliding scale of where to allocate financial resources.
Tamin was previously in the Los Angeles Dodgers ranks, spending six seasons with the team as director of baseball operations, contracts and research. He’s also been utilized by many MLB clubs in the past to handle salary arbitration cases.
He was included in a wave of hiring from the Braves thereafter. Minasian also brought on Dominic Chiti to serve as a special assistant and Rick Williams as a scout.
Perry Minasian calls Angels managerial job an ‘attractive’ position
Two-way star Shohei Ohtani will hit the free agent market, Mike Trout’s future is a question mark, and they recently announced they intend to decline Phil Nevin’s option for next season.
With a relatively solid, youthful group of players in the Major League ranks, the next skipper has a lot to look forward to when considering the Angels. With Nevin being the 22nd manager in club history, they’ll be in search of their fourth since Mike Scioscia departed following the 2018 season.
The difficult part of the next step is finding where they intend to go with their franchise in terms of competitiveness.
