In 2019, Los Angeles Angels Vice President of Communications Tim Mead left the organization to become the President of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Just two years after taking that role, he announced that he will be stepping down, citing the distance between Cooperstown and his family.

Mead released a statement to go along with his resignation, which will take effect some time in May.

“I made the recent leap with every intention of following in the footsteps of my predecessors, in continuing their efforts in maintaining the Hall of Fame as a critical component of the game,” Mead wrote. “Try as I might, even with the unwavering support of my family, these last 22 months have been challenging in maintaining my responsibilities to them.”

Mead spent nearly 40 years in the Angels organization. Beyond just his communications role, he worked in various baseball operations jobs. He even spent four year as the assistant general manager from 1994-97.

He has not yet revealed whether or not this is his retirement from his career in baseball. If it is, he can be proud of a long and successful journey with the Halos. If not, the Angels or another team would be lucky to have a person of his stature within their organization.

Mead’s future in baseball will not be determined until he has officially resigned from his position in May.

Angels front office receiving praise from players

Angels catchers Max Stassi and Kurt Suzuki had plenty of kind words to say about the front office, specifically general manager Perry Minasian.

They both appreciated the way in which the team communicates with players and makes them feel like everything is a collaborative effort. The Angels sit at 7-5, but were 7-3 before injuries ravaged the roster, a testament to Minasian’s early work with the Halos.
