The Los Angeles Angels are in position to make a push for the playoffs, but they still have holes on their roster that need to be addressed.

The early part of the season had the starting pitching carrying the load, the backend of their bullpen has begun to hammer itself out, but their offense has dealt with numerous injuries. Calling up a number of prospects to the active roster was an aggressive move for Angels general manager Perry Minasian, and his deadline could be a wild one if he indeed wants to add more.

Hunter Renfroe was added in the offseason to provide power, but it pushed former top prospect Jo Adell out of the mix for playing time.

With needs to fill, Adell could find is way out of the organization to give him a fresh start and a chance to play, per The Athletic:

The Angels could look to trade Adell, especially if they’re deadline buyers. That being said, the Angels are wary of trading Adell for fear that he might blossom elsewhere.

Of course, the Angels could just hold onto him with Renfroe on an expiring deal and the uncertainty surrounding Shohei Ohtani’s future. The worry that if something clicks with Adell and he excels with another club should provide them pause, but his peripheral data shouldn’t be enough to make him untouchable by any means.

Adell is having a fine season, but he’s again playing to his prospect profile. Slugging at a high rate, using his raw power to drive it out of the ballpark, but the holdup remains in his ability to have that success translate to Major League Baseball.

Still, he would be an intriguing trade chip for a team to bet on his raw talent, and maybe a new organization can help him get his career on track.

Angels need Taylor Ward to get right

As Adell is seemingly knocking on the door for another look in MLB, the Angels need to figure out what is going on with Taylor Ward.

Ward was a key piece of their lineup last season but has struggled to get it going this year.
