The Los Angeles Angels have announced their list of 27 non-roster invites to join them at Spring Training in Arizona later this month. The list is a mix of MLB veterans, intriguing prospects and some lesser known names. None of these players are guaranteed a place on the 26- or 40-man roster, but all will have a chance to fight for a place alongside those already secure on the big league roster.
Some of the more intriguing names include outfielders Willie Calhoun and Nelson Rada, infielders Hunter Dozier and Miguel Sanó, right-handed pitchers Caden Dana and Carson Fulmer and left-handed pitcher Adam Kolarek.
Calhoun is entering his eighth MLB season after playing for the Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees. He has a career 86 OPS+ and had a .712 OPS in 44 games with the Yankees last season.
Rada and Dana are the Angels’ top two prospects that have not yet made their Major League debut, as Nolan Schanuel still holds the No. 1 spot while he retains prospect status. Neither have a significant chance to earn roster spots, but could given how quickly the Angels move players through the system.
Dana was an 11th round pick in 2022 and last played for High-A Tri-City while Rada — a 2022 international signing — is still only 18 years old and with Low-A Inland Empire.
Dozier and Sanó represent veterans that could land a roster spot given some of the uncertainty of the Halos infield. The Angels would likely want as much insurance as possible with their infield given the injury risk from third baseman Anthony Rendon.
