In what was the final slate of awards for the 2021 season, the All-MLB First and Second teams were announced on Tuesday night. The Los Angeles Angels had two finalists — Shohei Ohtani and Raisel Iglesias — and both found their way to making the final cut.

Ohtani — as the cherry on top of his historic season — was named to the All-MLB First team as the designated hitter and the Second team as a starting pitcher. Iglesias was named a Second team relief pitcher alongside Kenley Jansen of the L.A. Dodgers.

The Dodgers led all of baseball in All-MLB selections, racking up five winners. Starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Walker Buehler were named to to the First team while shortstop Trea Turner, starting pitcher Julio Urias, and Jansen received Second team honors.

This was the third annual selection of the All-MLB team, coming in the same format as the first two. Two teams consisting of one catcher, first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, third baseman, and designated hitter, to go along with three outfielders, five starting pitchers, and two relievers.

Selection is done by a 50-50 weighted split of fan voting and a panel of experts and is meant to serve as a way to pick a new All-Star team with the whole season being taken into account. The full winners can be seen below.
